Issue Position

I believe that government has a duty to keep people safe.

As a school board trustee, I have worked closely with law enforcement to reduce gang activity and graffiti near our schools and in surrounding neighborhoods. We have put a police officer in every high school to work with youth and keep them safe.

We need to stop crime before it starts. I've been a youth counselor and mentor for troubled kids. We need to provide programs that reduce dropout rates and give kids a place to go after school----for sports programs, extra help with homework and someone they can talk to in a safe environment.

In the State Senate, I will be a strong advocate for law enforcement, making sure they the resources and tools they need to protect our communities.
